The MBS review continues and appears to be on track to report by the end of the year.  The review is looking at whether the 5,500 items on the Medical Benefits Schedule can be aligned with contemporary clinical evidence and improve health outcomes for Australians.  This is an ambitious target as the process to list a single new procedure on the MBS via the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) can take up to 2 years.
