ARCS Annual Conference: Patients at the Centre of Healthcare. 6-8 August.

MedTechnique Consulting Principal, Sarah Griffin, chairperson for the “Real World evidence – how is it being used in Australian device listings” session on 06 August 1:30 – 2:30pm.

Real world data (RWD), or data generated outside of RCTs, is used to calculate effectiveness estimates of novel devices. It is often sourced from disease registries, observational studies and electronic health records. Policies on RWD assessment and appraisal in decision making vary between HTA agencies. How is RWD being used in Australia in 2019, what types of RWD evidence are accepted by MSAC and what changes are likely given upcoming disease targets and technological innovations?
Speakers:

·        Emily Hurley, Director, Health System Clinical and Patient Outcomes Section, Department of Health

·        Professor Stephen Graves, Director, Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR).

Chairperson: Sarah Griffin, Principal, MedTechnique Consulting.
